MANILA, Philippines – Three DJs of radio station Magic 89.9, including Mo Twister (Mohan Gumatay in real life), were suspended on Wednesday morning for starting the hashtag #charicepempengcosextape on the microblogging site Twitter.

Gumatay, along with DJs Tin Gamboa and Mia Bayuga, started the Twitter hashtag “as a joke” while their show “GoodTimes” was on air today.

The hashtag was the top local trending topic on Twitter this morning.

In a statement, Magic 89.9 said the station “does not condone what happened this morning, May 9, 2012 on GoodTimes.”

Magic 89.9 said “the DJs involved shall be suspended from boardwork for two weeks without pay as consequence of their actions.”

Charice, meantime, in her official Twitter account said she thought Gumatay was nice and that he was “unbelievable.”

“Too bad. Remember, you interviewed me? I thought you were nice. anyway, I should talk to you FACE TO FACE. :)” she said.

Charice added she hopes Gumatay has a “good lawyer,” hinting that she would file a case against the controversial radio jockey.

“It’s my birthday tomorrow.. I just can’t wait to go back to the Philippines,” she said.

Charice is one of the judges on “The X Factor Philippines,” which will start airing soon on ABS-CBN.

Magic 89.9 said it will issue a public apology to Charice on Thursday on the radio show.

MANILA, Philippines – The country will witness the so-called “super moon” tonight, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In an interview with dzMM TeleRadyo, PAGASA weather forecaster Glaiza Escullar explained the size of the “super moon” appears to be 14% larger than normal because the moon will be in its nearest distance from the Earth tonight.
Meanwhile, Escullar said it is going to be a warm Sunday across the country, particularly in the northern and central Luzon with just isolated rains in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA said a high pressure area extending over Bicol region and Eastern Visayas is causing the hot weather.

LOS ANGELES - Bear Grylls, the British adventurer and star of survival show “Man vs. Wild,” has been fired by US cable television network Discovery Channel in a contract dispute.
Grylls, 37, who was dropped into hostile places to survive by eating insects, wading rapids and drinking his urine, has hosted the TV show since 2006, becoming a celebrity around the world.
But Discovery Channel said on Tuesday that “due to a continuing contractual dispute with Bear Grylls, Discovery has terminated all current productions with him.”
A spokesman for Grylls said he and Discovery had been unable to reach agreement on new programming and had parted ways.
“Bear’s goal has always been to make life-empowering shows for his many fans around the globe, and he has taken great risks to bring Discovery such award winning programming over seven seasons,” said Heather Krug, publicist for the wilderness expert.
“Unfortunately, Bear and Discovery have not been able to come to mutual agreement on new programming, and he disagrees with Discovery’s decision to terminate current productions. Bear has loved the ‘Man vs. Wild’ journey and looks forward to producing further cutting edge content again soon for his loyal audience.”
The details of the dispute were unclear but trade publication The Hollywood Reporter quoted industry sources as saying it revolved around two unannounced projects for which Grylls was contracted.
The sixth and most recent season of “Man Vs. Wild” was broadcast on Discovery in July and August 2011. It featured one episode in which Grylls was joined in a remote part of Iceland by actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
Other episodes have seen Grylls dropped by parachute into jungles and deserts, surviving for days by eating snakes, sleeping in snow holes and wrapping a urine-soaked t-shirt around his head to combat dehydration.
“Man vs. Wild,” is broadcast in Britain as “Born Survivor: Bear Grylls” and shown in some 200 countries around the world.
Grylls climbed Mt Everest at the age of 23 and served for three years in Britain’s elite Special Air Service, training in parachuting, jungle warfare and combat survival.
He also has found fame as a motivational speaker and written several books, including teenage fiction and a best-selling autobiography.

Charice’s father stabbed dead

MANILA (2nd UPDATE) - The father of international singing sensation Charice Pempengco was killed in a stabbing incident Monday night.

Ricky Pempengco, who is separated from Charice’s mom, Raquel, was stabbed in A. Bonifacio Road, Barangay Laram,  San Pedro, Laguna.

A police report said that Pempengco was in a drinking session and then left to buy a cigarette.

The suspect, Angel Capili Jr., approached him and stabbed him with a 12-foot ice pick.

Pempengco was able to walk away and then sit on a pavement, but the suspect went back for him and stabbed him again.

The ice pick pierced through Pempengco’s body, killing him. The suspect quickly left the scene.

Authorities said Pempengco might have survived the stabbing had barangay officials been able to rush him to the hospital.

Pempengco’s drinking buddies didn’t help him since they were afraid of getting hurt.

Police said that in 2005, Pempengco quarreled with Capili.

Charice’s father

Ricky was once described by his ex-wife Raquel as a violent husband.

Years ago, Charice, her brother and Raquel left Ricky.

Charice is currently in a tour with David Foster and other international singers. — report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News; UKG
